Mpact maximises Tankwa Trek participation to strengthen customer ties

This year’s Tankwa Trek has come and gone, but lasting relationships have been forged through the involvement of Mpact Corrugated in the acclaimed stage race for mountain bike cycling.

The event was the first tranche of the company’s sponsorship deal with Dryland Event Management, which hosted the epic race through the Koue Bokkeveld region of the Western Cape in early February.

For Mpact Corrugated, contributing to the sustainability of the Tankwa Trek was equally important as building relationships with its customers.

“The Tankwa Trek race takes place near the fruit-farming region of Ceres, which is home to many of our long-standing customers,” says Jandri Ferreira, Mpact Corrugated sales representative responsible for the Ceres area. “These include farms in the hands of the fourth and fifth generation families.”

“Tankwa Trek gave us the opportunity to re-connect with them in their communities, in a relaxed outdoor setting, doing a sport that we love.”

This year marked Jandri’s seventh Tankwa Trek while Mpact Corrugated MD Christoff Botha had to withdraw due to injury from an earlier fall.

In the lead-up to the event, Christoff said the company was proud to be associated with Dryland Event Management. “Our mission is to develop premium quality products that deliver solutions without compromising the environment. As such, Mpact and Dryland’s values intersect in the promotion of wellbeing and sustainability. Mpact is also active in the areas where Dryland’s MTB stage events occur, giving us shared interest to further this important message.”

In addition to supporting the Tankwa Trek, a four-day stage race that enjoys the support of many international cycling all-stars, Mpact Corrugated has committed to Dryland’s next event - the Cradle Traverse Challenge. The three-day mountain bike stage race takes place from April 8 to 10 April near Lanseria, in the heart of Gauteng.
